a lighter stack of books

Finished the big novel last month and swung hard the other way. Short story collections now, mostly. I like finishing a thing in one sitting and putting it down done, no bookmark sitting there like a small chore I owe.

Re-read an old favourite too, one I've had for years, spine gone soft and pale. Odd, going back to a book you know that well. You stop reading for what happens and start seeing how it's put together, the seams. Like walking a route you could do with your eyes shut.

I'll get to something heavier eventually. For now the light stuff suits me and I'm in no hurry to trade it in.
