half-finished books
2026 · 06
Four books on the little table by the chair, all with a bookmark stuck somewhere in the first half, and I feel completely fine about it. Which is new.
For years an unfinished book sat on me like a small unpaid debt. The big novel I finally got through over the winter seems to have fixed that. Two years I gave it, on and off. Finishing it was nice, and somewhere in those two years I also stopped minding the books I leave half-read.
So. One's a short story collection I read a story at a time and might never officially finish. One I already know I'll give up on. One I re-read half of because I wanted a bit I already loved. One I'm actually reading, slowly, in the evenings.
