the third batch of jam
2026 · 07
Third batch this summer, done Saturday, and it set first try. Didn't even stand over the pan the way I used to. Plums from the market, sugar, a squeeze of lemon, done in under an hour.
M. brought up the very first batch again, the one that never actually turned into jam. We spooned it over yogurt for about a month and called it a coulis so we'd feel better. It's the household joke now. Anything that goes slightly wrong is "a bit of a runny batch."
Six jars on the counter and no plan for them. Couple will go to the neighbour, who started all this by giving me too much fruit to begin with.
